Following the Ryan Garko trade, the San Francisco Giants have made another move to get a bat by trading a prospect for All-Star Freddy Sanchez from the Pirates whom the San Francisco Giants just swept in a 1-0 ballgame this afternoon. A great trade to get another hitter going into the playoff hunt, the Giants are making it known that they are planning to win a playoff spot this season. GO GIANTS!

But, it is fitting that Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain represent the San Francisco Giants in this year's collection of best baseball players in major league baseball because they have shown consistently that they are premium pitchers in their prime.

Just weeks removed from the starting rotation for the San Francisco Giants, pitcher Jonathan Sanchez returned from exile in the bullpen to emerge as a starting pitcher in the Giants rotation upon Randy Johnson's timely DL stint (at least for Sanchez and fans of no-hitters).

Throwing only a little over 100 pitches, Sanchez worked efficiently, throwing a total of 11 strikeouts to go along with his 0 walks, in the San Francisco Giants' Friday night shutout against the San Diego Padres. And as if those numbers are not extraordinary enough, Sanchez gave up a grand total of 0 hits - ZERO!

The emotion, pitching performance, and fan support certainly aided in making this a truly memorable no-hitter for Jonathan Sanchez, the San Francisco Giants, and the fans.

Giants vs Cardinals - Lincecum Complete Game

Tim Lincecum pitched tremendously through 9 innings for the San Francisco Giants who win 10-0 over the St. Louis Cardinals. Tim Lincecum only had 89 pitches going into the ninth inning, which he made quick work. Finishing the game himself, Tim Lincecum has another complete game this season with a shutout. And even more impressive is that the Cardinals only managed to get 2 hits, giving Tim Lincecum a 2-hitter to be proud of. He had great stuff, and like normal, pitched efficiently for the San Francisco Giants in this win.

And the offsense certainly helped to lift this game into unreachable territory for a Cardinal comeback. The San Francisco hitters teed off the Cardinals pitchers for home runs, with the notable 3-run home run by Travis Ishikawa and the triple decker home run by Uribe.

With this win, Tim Lincecum adds another impressive win, and fourth consecutive long inning start, giving him a 8-2 record. And the eight strikeouts with no walks certainly speaks to the quality of pitches Tim Lincecum was zooming past the Cardinal hitters.

The San Francisco Giants have been putting on a show with their pitching. Throwing the best collectively in the league, the San Francisco Giants pitchers have dominated hitters.

Tim Lincecum just finished his second complete game for the Giants this season, coincidently both against the Oakland A's, with 12 strikeouts and only a little over 100 pitches. And Matt Cain has been spectacular, pitching worthy of being CY Young candidate, and truly being a force for this San Francisco Giants team.

Randy Johnson has been pitching rather consistently at his age (6-5), yet his mentoring of the other pitchers on the San Francisco pitching staff has been spectacular. The perception of Randy Johnson being arrogant and diva-like has not surfaced in San Francisco, and his demeanor and reportiore has been good. And upon his winning 300 and 300+, Randy Johnson has catapulted himself into a strata unreachable by most pitchers.

While Zito and Sanchez are getting rocked, the expectations coming into the season were just that, so if they can win any games it helps the San Francisco Giants. And with Barry Zito and Sanchez's 4-7 and 2-8 records so far, Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain might double the two up in wins alone with 7-2 and 9-1 records already.

So, let's hope the three pitchers at the start of the rotation can keep winning ballgames cause they could very well pitch the San Francisco Giants into playoff position.

Oh, and don't forget to vote for the San Francisco players on the All-Star ballot.

Giants Pitching Analysis

For a team that is going to live or die with pitching, the results are looking okay at this point - not outstanding though.

Randy Johnson seems like he is going to throw a lot of strikeouts, but also a lot of home runs. My impressions from opening night were that eventually someone was going to connect on his slower pitches and he might not get enough runs to make up for it.

Timmy Lincecum I am not worried about. He had good stuff opening day, he was throwing an incredible curve ball that was dropping dramatically in the strike zone - he just could not throw one pitch effectively.

Matt Cain - I love Matt Cain. Last year and the year before, I loved him. He could not get out of the third inning last year though without a struggle. It didn't help that the run production on the days he pitched was so low either. However, Cain still had good stuff - he would settle down and pitch great. And this year, Matt Cain came out his first start of the 2009 season and was throwing great. And I was so happy to see him get out of the third unharmed. I am going to say right now - Matt Cain is going to win the 2009 CY Young Award for the National League.

Sanchez and Zito are wildcards - You never really know. However, Zito really needs to stop stinking it up. It has been years since he pitched a good game, let alone two in a row. Get it together dude, you're a CY Young Winner too.

Giants lose on Opening Night to Brewers

Tim Lincecum received his CY Young Award to a crowded Giants crowd. Randy Johnson started the game and he had 6 strikeouts after three innings - and it all went bad from there. Mike Cameron hit a home run and so did another Brewer to make the close 1-1 game a 4-1 game. The Giants battled back and tried to rally numerous times only to come out with a 4-2 lose at home.

The firework show was stupendous. I'll be adding pictures and video soon to highlight the night. Overall, a really great night - although a win would have been appreciated. We used too much of our offensive strength last night, oh well. Next game, Go Giants!

Giants Bomb Away Against Milwaukee

The San Francisco blew out the Milwaukee Brewers in this year's Opening Day game. Tim Lincecum only pitched three innnings and Joe Martinez pitched some good innnings in relief. The San Francisco Giants were hitting home runs out of the park today - Aaron Rowand, Randy Winn, and Molina going yard. A great game for Giants fans ready for the season to begin in full force.

Fifth Inning San Francisco Giants Opening Day

Joe Martinez was able to hold on to the lead with the Giants leading the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 with the Giants getting ready to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Giants were able to extend their lead by one run, so the San Francisco Giants lead the Milwaukee Brewers 7-5 on Opening Day in 2009.

The San Francisco Giants have replaced Tim Lincecum with Boston College pitcher Joe Martinez- Timmy's night is over. He still had some good stuff, but it is better to get him out before any major damage - he is having problems finding the plate on a certain pitch.

The lead has been lost 5-4 Brewers.

The Giants have come back with a gorgeous crack of the bat by Aaron Rowand to send the ball flying into the outfield bleachers - home run! 6-5 Giants. Go Giants!

Third Inning

Tim Lincecum struggled to find the plate on several pitches in a row, walking a batter on four straight pitches. While he came back to strikeout the next batter on a quick 0-2 count, Tim Lincecum was already being talked about by the manager and pitching coach as Martinez warmed up for the Giants.

Tim Lincecum struggled a little bit to get into a rhythm as Jeff Suppan was able to get an RBI to cut the lead, 3-2 Giants. However, Timmy was able to start pitching in a better rhythm and got himself out of the inning.

And Tim Lincecum comes up with a great hit in the second inning with the hit-and-run on for the San Francisco Giants to get Emmanuel Burriss to third and Lincecum is safe at first. A great chance for the Giants to extend the lead with no outs. And Randy Winn comes through with a sacrifice fly to score Burriss. 4-2 Giants to end the 2nd. Let's Go Timmy!

Tim Lincecum, the Cy Young winner, ended up started the Opening Day game for the Giants and got out of the first innning without giving up a run. He threw 23 pitches to the Brewers to start the game, but all is well for the Giants as they responded in the bottom of the first to score 3 runs. After getting the bases loaded with a hit by pitch by Suppan of the Brewers to Molina, Ishikawa hit a clutch three-run triple to give the Giants the lead. The packed house in AT&T are cheering and the Giants have started their Opening Day off with a bang. Let's go Timmy!

Opening Day has begun for the San Francisco Giants and I am beyond excited. The weather did not look like it was going to cooperate, but the game started and Tim Lincecum is pitching. I am wearing my Tim Lincecum jersey shirt and watching intently as the first inning progresses. Go Giants!
